A few months ago, Reddit warned its community about restricting the sharing of copyrighted content. Now, the forum is beginning to ban users who violate community guidelines.
Reddit prohibits users from violating community guidelines
According to a report by TorrentFreak, there are still numerous subreddits in existence aimed at sharing links containing copyrighted content hosted on external websites.
This community, formerly known as 23,000-strong r/FullMoviesOnAnything, was renowned for being a hub for sharing links to movie torrents on copyright-infringing websites. Additionally, there are other notable communities such as r/FullMoviesOnAnything_, r/TVShowsOnAnything, r/fullmovies, r/fullmoviesonline, and r/crackedsoftware.
Although Reddit hasn't explicitly explained why it's banning these communities, it's evident that they are promoting copyrighted content.
