Redmi 12C boasts impressive specs with Helio G85 chipset and a 5,000 mAh battery
Let's check out the specifications of Redmi 12C for easy reference!
- Display: 6.71-inch size, IPS LCD panel, HD+ resolution (1,650 x 720 pixels).
- Operating System: Android 12 (MIUI 13 interface).
- Rear Camera: 50 MP + depth sensor camera.
- Front Camera: 5 MP.
- Chipset: Helio G85.
- RAM: 5 GB
- Internal Storage: 64 GB or 128 GB.
- Battery: 5,000 mAh, supports 10 W charging.

Redmi 12C comes equipped with MediaTek's Helio G85 processor. This chip is composed of 8 cores, including: 2 Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2 GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz, connected with a large L3 cache to enhance performance. As a result, Redmi 12C can effectively meet users' basic entertainment needs.

Moreover, Redmi 12C also features a 5,000 mAh battery, a standard figure for most budget smartphones today. Based on my experiences with various devices equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery, most achieve usage times of over 7 hours. So, does the 5,000 mAh battery on Redmi 12C perform equally well or even better? Let's find out in the next part of the article!
Redmi 12C's 5,000 mAh battery delivers over 8 hours of usage time
To verify the usage time of the 5,000 mAh battery that Redmi 12C possesses, I conducted a battery test (following the standard of The Gioi Di Dong) with various mixed usage tasks. The specific conditions are as follows:
- Experience 4 rotating tasks including: Playing Arena of Valor (graphics settings as shown below), watching YouTube, browsing Facebook, and using the Chrome browser.
- Each task lasted for 1 hour.
- A SIM card was inserted into the device.
- Screen brightness was set to 100%.
- External speaker was turned on with 50% volume.
- WiFi and social media notifications were enabled.
- Battery saver, adaptive brightness, GPS, and Bluetooth were turned off.
- The battery was drained from 100% to 0%.
Below are the results obtained:

Looking at the results table above, I'm very impressed with Redmi 12C's usage time of up to 8 hours and 23 minutes with various rotating tasks. This shows that Xiaomi has made efforts to optimize both the hardware and software for Redmi 12C. Most of the tasks consumed about 10% - 14%. When compared to many other devices in the same price range, the results of Redmi 12C are not significantly inferior.

However, the test above is for reference only because in my daily usage (excluding the conditions of the battery test), Redmi 12C provides even longer usage time. A typical day of using my phone usually starts from 9 a.m. until around 8 p.m. before I need to charge the device again. Oh, I use Redmi 12C for tasks like watching YouTube, browsing Facebook, reading news, and playing a few rounds of Arena of Valor Mobile.

Although the usage time is good, Redmi 12C is only supported with 10W charging. I think this is a small drawback of this phone and I hope the manufacturer will address it in the upcoming versions. So, how long does it actually take to charge the device? Let's find out together!

I conducted a test to measure the time it takes to fully charge the battery of Redmi 12C (from 0% to 100%), and it took me about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Therefore, I recommend charging the device overnight to avoid taking up too much time.
Redmi 12C's 5,000mAh battery allows you to game for extended periods
In this section, I'll play four games consecutively, including Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, and Play Together, to see how long Redmi 12C's 5,000mAh battery can last. The conditions of the test I conducted are as follows:
- Play each game continuously until the device runs out of battery.
- Set screen brightness to 100%.
- Turn on external speaker with volume set at 50%.
- Enable WiFi and social media notifications.
- Do not activate battery saver mode, adaptive brightness, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- Start from 100% battery and continue until it reaches 0%.
The results I obtained are as follows:

- Free Fire: 3 hours 58 minutes.
- Play Together: 4 hours 15 minutes.
- Arena of Valor: 4 hours 49 minutes
- PUBG Mobile: 4 hours 50 minutes.
The results above indicate that Redmi 12C performs well in terms of usage time with PUBG Mobile (4 hours 50 minutes) and Arena of Valor (4 hours 49 minutes). Among them, Free Fire consumes the most battery due to its graphics settings set to the highest level. Overall, I believe that Redmi 12C with its 5,000mAh battery will meet the relatively good entertainment needs of users.

However, these results are for reference only. Not to mention, the test conditions applied to Redmi 12C are quite heavy compared to normal usage needs. Therefore, the gaming time you get when removing the above conditions is likely to be longer!
Redmi 12C 5,000mAh battery lasts for 7 hours and 40 minutes of continuous Facebook browsing
If you're not much into gaming, you might wonder how long the Redmi 12C battery lasts when using basic apps like Facebook, TikTok, Google Chrome, YouTube, and so on, right? Let's move on to the final test in this review to find the answer!

In this test, I'll be using familiar apps like Facebook, Messenger, TikTok, Chrome, and YouTube with the following specific conditions:
- Using a single app until the device runs out of battery (from 100% to 0%).
- Screen brightness set to 100%.
- External speaker turned on with volume set to 50%.
- WiFi and social media notifications enabled.
- Battery saving mode, adaptive brightness, GPS, and Bluetooth turned off.
- Starting from 100% charge until 0%.
Here are the results I obtained:

- YouTube: 5 hours 33 minutes.
- Google Chrome: 6 hours 02 minutes.
- TikTok: 7 hours 13 minutes.
- Messenger: 7 hours 22 minutes.
- Facebook: 7 hours 40 minutes.
For the tasks above, Redmi 12C can operate for at least 5 hours or more. Particularly impressive is the Facebook app, which runs continuously for nearly 7 hours and 40 minutes, a substantial figure compared to other devices in the same segment. Overall, based on the recent test, I believe the Redmi 12C can very well meet users' basic needs such as work and study.
How much does Redmi 12C cost? Is it worth buying?
Overall, the Redmi 12C is an impressive smartphone in the budget segment with remarkable battery life. Apart from lacking high-speed charging, everything about this device, from battery life to performance, is at a good level. Currently, the Redmi 12C is officially available at The Gioi Di Dong with the following price:
- 4 GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage version is priced at 3.59 million VND.
- 4 GB RAM + 128 GB internal storage version is priced at 3.99 million VND.
