Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets are both text-based computation software. However, personally, I prefer Google Sheets for its flexibility, speed, visual appeal, and simplicity over Excel. Another advantage of using Google Sheets is seamless data sharing with friends without any data transmission hassle. Dealing with data duplication is inevitable when entering a large volume of data. Today, Mytour will guide you on methods to remove duplicate content and data on Google Sheets.
To filter duplicate data on Excel, users can use the remove duplicates feature to filter duplicate data in Excel, resulting in an independent data list. On Google Sheets, there are two main methods to remove duplicate data: using the Unique Function or utilizing add-ons.
REMOVING DUPLICATE CONTENT, DATA ON GOOGLE SHEETS USING THE UNIQUE FUNCTION
Step 1: Open the spreadsheet you want to clean and select any empty cell.
Step 2: Type '=UNIQUE(' into the fx bar.
Step 3: Select all the cells you want to remove duplicates from by holding and dragging the mouse, and you'll see them on the fx bar. Then close the parentheses. It will look like '=UNIQUE(A4:A13)' when I choose column A, rows 4 to 13.
Step 4: Press Enter to let the system calculate. At this point, the UNIQUE function will automatically filter out duplicate data and present the result as non-duplicated data.
REMOVING DUPLICATE CONTENT, DATA ON GOOGLE SHEETS USING ADD-ON
Google Sheets, in particular, and Google Docs, in general, mostly support add-ons. Some add-ons allow us to remove duplicate data.

Step 3: Select Get Add-ons, and the Google Store will appear.
