To foster a green and clean tourism environment, Hanoi's Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will replace the fence at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam with lush trees and eliminate the hanging lanterns.
The Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam and Ngoc Son Temple are focal points for tourism enhancement in 2014. In line with efforts to create a cleaner tourism environment, Hanoi's Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism plans to replace the fence at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam with trees and remove the hanging lanterns.
“Tourism will be the capital's leading economic sector,” stated Tô Văn Động, Director of Hanoi's Department of Culture, during the sector's 2013 review on January 8th. The city plans to consolidate craft villages into a single location, creating tourist attractions along the Nhật Tân - Nội Bài route. The Department also aims to develop the Ba Vi - Suoi Hai area into a national tourism site by 2020.
A digital map project using GIS technology for Hanoi tourism will be implemented following approval from the city's People's Committee.

“We will propose to the Ministry to allow the implementation of infrastructure construction projects at key tourist areas to develop products and ensure a civilized tourism environment, security, and safety for tourists,” stated Mr. Động.
In 2013, Hanoi welcomed over 2.5 million international tourists, marking a nearly 23% increase. Leading the surge were key markets like South Korea (up by 57%), Australia (with a generous 22.5% rise), and Japan (up by 12%). Domestic visitors to Hanoi also saw a substantial uptick, nearing 14% growth.
