Requirements for Vietnamese Citizens to Qualify for Visa Exemption during the Korean Olympics
On January 12, to attract and facilitate international tourists, especially those from the Southeast Asian region, the Ministry of Justice of Korea officially approved a visa waiver policy for tourist groups from three Southeast Asian countries: Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia entering Korea during the Winter Olympics. The 23rd PyeongChang Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will take place from February 9 to February 25 and March 9 to March 18, in three cities: PyeongChang, Jeongseon, and Gangneung in Gangwon Province, Korea.

Specific regulations for Vietnamese tourists:
– Applicable group: Tourist groups (applicable to groups of 5 or more) organized through travel companies designated by the Consular Section - Embassy of Korea and the Consulate General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City, with round-trip flights from Vietnam to Yangyang International Airport - Korea.
– Application period: from 22/1 to 30/4.
– Duration of stay: up to 15 days
– Type of visa issued: PyeongChang Olympic No Visa B-2-94
– Entry and exit airport: Yangyang International Airport – Korea

In the announcement, the Ministry of Justice of Korea also officially announced the registration method for the list of tourist groups for designated travel companies. Specifically as follows:
– Step 1: Designated travel companies in Vietnam register information and list of groups through the Korean visa information portal at www.visa.go.kr and apply for approval of the PyeongChang Olympic No Visa B-2-94 visa.
– Step 2: The Ministry of Justice of Korea, the Korean Immigration Service assesses and approves group visas through the electronic visa system.
– Step 3: Korean landtour companies and Vietnamese travel companies receive approval information and issue Entry Permits for the registered groups.
In recent years, Korea has consistently implemented many policies, such as waiving financial proof requirements or modifying certain procedures, to facilitate more Vietnamese tourists' opportunities to visit Korea. In 2017 alone, the land of kimchi welcomed over 323,000 Vietnamese tourists, a 28.8% increase compared to the same period last year, making it one of the fastest-growing markets worldwide for tourist arrivals in Korea.
