Word files often get encrypted due to virus infections or simply because Windows blocks them when downloaded from the Internet. If you're unsure how to fix this file issue, follow the instructions below.
1. Unlocking Encrypted Word Files Downloaded from the Internet
If your Word file is encrypted, close it and follow these steps:
Step 1: Right-click on the encrypted Word file (1) => Properties (2).
