If in the previous article we instructed you on setting up, adjusting BIOS to boot the computer faster, then in this article you will learn how to update BIOS flash to resolve machine hang issues, helping the computer operate more efficiently.
Guidelines on Updating BIOS Flash to Resolve Machine Hang Issues
- Note
- Throughout the Update process, do not abruptly shut down the power, and keep the battery plugged in.
Step 1: Check the current BIOS version
Press the Windows + R key combination to open the Run dialog box. Then type in the command line “msinfo32”. A new window will appear, where you will see the current BIOS version and the update date.
Step 2: Find and download the latest BIOS update
At this step, depending on the type of machine, you will download from different sources, usually from the official website. Go to the homepage of the machine manufacturer you are using, search for a BIOS version different from the current one, and proceed to download.
The downloaded version must be compatible with the current operating system and newer than the current BIOS version.
Step 3: After you have selected and downloaded the appropriate BIOS version, proceed to install it on your machine
- Close all running programs, Disable antivirus software (if any)
- Proceed with installation. Choose Run as Administrator
- Proceed with the installation step by step on your machine. When finished, the program will prompt you to restart your computer. Restart your computer.
- Note
- If there is an error during the update process and the machine cannot boot up, remove the battery, unplug it for about 15 minutes, then reinstall the battery and restart the machine.
When your computer hangs continuously, not due to virus issues or running heavy programs, it's time to consider that your BIOS system is outdated and needs to be updated to a newer version. Your computer will run smoother and more stable than ever before.
