The Windows Store is understood as an application marketplace for users; after installing Windows 10, users typically only need a Microsoft account to access the services within the Windows Store. However, there are many reasons leading to the inability to access the Windows Store, causing concern among users. Below is a guide on accessing the Windows Store and resolving the access error that Mytour shares with users.
Guide to Accessing the Windows Store and Resolving Access Error
After upgrading to Windows 10, you have 6 months to explore the useful features and services of the most advanced operating system today - Windows 10. One of the essential experiences is the Windows Store, an application marketplace.
Guide to Fixing Windows Store Access Issue
1. Check your computer's date and time
Date and time are authentication factors, while the Windows Store operates in real-time. Therefore, incorrect date and time settings can lead to the inability to access the Windows Store. Similar to the issue of not being able to access the Windows Store on Windows 8/8.1, you should reset the date and time for your computer if they are incorrect.
- To adjust the date and time, follow these steps:
+ Click the left mouse button on the date and time box in the lower-right corner of the screen, then select Change date and time setting...
+ Set the date and time to match the current time.
2. Proxy server blocking Windows Store access
It's highly likely that the Proxy server setting has inadvertently blocked the operation of the Windows Store, rendering it unusable. If you are still using Microsoft's familiar Internet Explorer (IE) browser, follow these steps:
- Access Internet options
- Select LAN settings from the Connections tab
- Uncheck the box labeled Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) and click OK
3. Log out and log back in to the user account
To use the Windows Store, you need an account. If you can't access the Windows Store, try logging out of that account. If you have one, use a different account to log back in. If not, you can use the same account to log back in after logging out.
- Note
- To use the Windows Store, it's recommended to have a Hotmail account. If you don't know how to register, you can refer to how to create a Hotmail account on Mytour.
4. Reset Windows Store cache
Sometimes, the issue lies with the Windows Store cache. If the Windows Store cache is full or conflicted, it can affect its performance. Users can reset the Windows Store cache as follows:
- Press Command + R to open the Run dialog box or type 'Run' into the search box
- Type 'WSReset.exe' and press OK or Enter
That's it! You have successfully reset the Windows Store cache. Try opening the Windows Store and downloading apps from there.
- Note
- If you encounter a situation where app downloads from the Windows Store stop completely, close it, restart your computer, open the Windows Store again, and reinstall the app that encountered the error.
