Every winter, flocks of birds fly south to avoid the freezing cold weather.
That year, a pair of swans had just given birth to a little swan, but because the child was still too small and weak, they had to rest along the way. Fearing they couldn't endure the long journey, the swan mother discussed with the swan father the intention to ask someone to take care of the child and come back next year to pick up the baby swan. Luckily, when they flew a bit further, they met a duck taking care of her little ducklings, similar in age to the baby swan, so they asked for her help. Out of sympathy for the swan family's situation, the duck mother agreed, they thanked her and flew away.
The baby swan stayed with the duck family. Because it looked different from the ducklings, it was always bullied, mocked, and ridiculed by the others. Its body was skinny, its neck long and wobbly, it was clumsy and slow. Despite being explained and advised by the duck mother, the ducklings continued to criticize it. The baby swan was very sad because no one wanted to play with it. Time passed quickly, and spring arrived, the baby swan's parents came to pick it up. Meeting their child again after so many months apart, they were extremely excited to see that it had grown and become much stronger. The baby swan was both happy and sad. It ran to its duck mother to say thank you and tearfully bid farewell to its duckling friends. It had forgotten all the sadness of the past and regretfully waved goodbye to the duck family, then set off with its mother to a distant place.
The ducklings suddenly realized that swans are the most beautiful and gentle birds. They felt remorseful and extremely ashamed of their behavior towards the baby swan. From then on, they became more friendly and harmonious with all the creatures around them.
