The primary change is that the Google Photos app has removed the three-dot menu (or hamburger menu), and the search bar is now at the top of albums and content. Eliminating the side menu seems to be a recent trend for applications from the search giant, as Google Maps recently did away with this menu. The search option now resides in the bottom navigation and has undergone some innovations. The bottom bar now contains 5 icons, instead of the previous 4 options - including Photos, Search, For you, Sharing, and Library.

The topmost section of the application now features the Google Photos label followed by the Memories section. Below these, the user's most recent photos are arranged as before. The Search option doesn't directly display the search keyboard anymore. Instead, the app now provides a range of suggestions such as People & Pets previews, Places, and Things, allowing users to directly view photos from these categories. The previews resemble how Albums were displayed in the older version.
Speaking of Albums, its content is now moved inside the new Library section. This section also provides access to various options that were previously in the 3-dot menu, including folders Device, Favorites, Albums, Archives, Trash... Overall, this update brings a fresh design perspective and makes the app more user-friendly with categories moved down below the screen.
The update has been activated with a server-side update and hasn't started rolling out to many users yet. However, since the redesign doesn't require an app update, these changes will soon be brought to more devices in the near future. If you're unsure how to install and use the app, refer to the guide article Install and Use Google Photos here.
