A recent rumor has just revealed some information about the next-generation premium processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
This chip is said to feature a CPU configuration of 1+5+2 instead of the previously rumored 1+2+3+2 setup earlier this year. Unfortunately, leaker @UniverseIce did not mention which CPU cores Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will utilize and what its clock speeds will be.
Technical Specifications of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3For reference, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 had a CPU configuration of 1+2+2+3 consisting of Cortex-X3, Cortex-A715, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510 cores. While this SoC had 8MB of L3 cache memory, the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is rumored to have 10MB of L3 cache memory.
L3 cache memory is a dedicated memory bank integrated into the CPU. It serves as a specialized memory part aimed at providing L2 cache memory and aiding the CPU in fetching fewer data calls to the RAM, thus accelerating processes and enhancing performance.
Finally, according to the latest rumors, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will come with an Adreno 750 GPU to handle graphics tasks. It will be much more powerful than the Adreno 740 GPU used inside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is expected that Qualcomm's next flagship processor could be launched by the end of this year. Let's stay tuned!
