Storyline of the apocalypse
The main character that players embody is originally an ordinary person. On a stormy night, you are pulled into the world of monsters and informed that you are the chosen one to save this world from destruction. However, the overpowering enemy leads to your defeat in the battle.
The main character wakes up again in the human world but seems to have been mixed with monsters. This person is instructed by the monsters on how to lead them to create a powerful force to confront the enemy who has destroyed the monster world. Thus, you begin with your pet companions to recruit more members for the army and defeat the signs of power of those who want to destroy the world.
Combination of beauty and monsters
The most creative point of Girls Evo is using two familiar elements combined into something new. Monsters are not unfamiliar in card games, but using them in a Pokemon-style is quite unusual. The developers have completely replaced human characters with monsters, creating the impression that this is a world of all monsters fighting under human training. Each time you battle with boss monsters, you also have the opportunity to add them to your team through end-of-stage rewards.
Another unique yet familiar element is beautiful women, which other games also employ but Girls Evo has modified in a different direction. Regular monsters typically have only one evolution stage into a second form, but 5-star monsters will have a second evolution stage and transform into a very eye-catching human version. The attire of the girl is designed based on the original shape of the monster, from elemental features to species characteristics.
Familiar gameplay with a twist
Because of the somewhat unusual combination above, the core gameplay of Girls Evo appears quite ordinary but still ensures attraction for gamers. You still have a gacha mode to collect more monsters for your team, with every 10 pulls guaranteeing a 5-star monster. Along with that is a merging system to increase stars for 4-star or higher quality monsters and a disassembly system to recover materials for lower quality ones.
Besides leveling up and breakthroughs, monsters can also equip additional gear to increase their strength. Each combat team will have 6 positions to place pet companions. The elements are similar to Pokemon with Wind, Water, Fire, Earth, and Light/Dark. Owning monsters in predefined sets will activate synchronized boosts for the team as well as additional rewards for the main character.
The accompanying features are also familiar but quite extensive, allowing players to have many tasks to perform in the game. Dungeons come in various types from farming materials to exploration and clearing stages. The guild function also has its own activities such as guild battles, hunting, and guild boss fights. Mainline stage clears also come with a feature to unlock puzzle pieces for additional rewards.
In addition to having its own level, the main character also possesses various special weapons with different functions. They are based on the task of completing evolution missions in sets of 4 – 5 missions for each tier, and upon completion, they will advance similarly to the promotion mode in combat games.
Being an idle game, Girls Evo also has a function to collect additional resources over time and delegated missions for security.
Overall, Girls Evo opens up many activities, although not entirely new, but enough to help you grind quickly towards the goal of unlocking beautiful monster girls.
Downsides
Girls Evo has some points that may leave you puzzled. The aspect of beautiful women emerging from monster forms sounds appealing, but to achieve it is quite time-consuming. The evolution phase 2 to the 3rd appearance typically occurs in the late game, so you have to invest a lot to train it. In other words, it's a reward that you only glimpse from afar, whether you can reach it or not is another matter.
The game uses 2 separate gacha spinning materials: tickets or diamonds. When you spin 10 times, you will need to have 10 tickets or use diamonds entirely because there's no option to supplement due to the variable ticket exchange rate. You can buy a discounted ticket up to 90% off each day at the shop, possibly purchase it at an in-game event, or receive it through mission rewards, but there's no fixed channel selling spinning tickets. For active spinning, it's best to pay entirely in diamonds.
Conclusion
Despite using familiar gameplay without much novelty, thanks to the adjustment of the number of activities along with the combination of pokemon and beauty elements, Girls Evo has proven to be quite successful in attracting players. You always have motivation and goals ahead, with a variety of activities in your hands to continuously fight step by step closer to the beautiful monster girls.
It can be said that with a reasonable blend, Girls Evo has created a fairly solid product without requiring too much creativity or innovation in gameplay.
The game is not released in Vietnam, so if you want to play, gamers have to go through third-party channels. You can download the game here:
