Design
The Acer TravelMate series lives up to its name by providing premium, slim, and lightweight laptops for business users. The laptop comes with a 14-inch IPS display offering excellent viewing angles and touchscreen functionality. While many laptops boast higher resolution displays, the panel on the TravelMate Spin P6 features a 1920 x1200 resolution screen, more than sufficient for business users. The touchscreen also boasts 100% sRGB coverage for accurate and vibrant colors.
The screen's aspect ratio is 16:10, providing more content on the display. Users will be able to view more content without excessive scrolling. The touchscreen panel also features scratch resistance to prevent any minor accidental damage while using the laptop.
However, the brightness could be slightly better as this is a business laptop, intended for outdoor use where users will utilize it in bright sunlight. That being said, the touchscreen display supports a stylus pen, and the laptop comes with the Acer Active Stylus with its own Wacom AES 1.0 technology. The pen offers 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, providing a natural feel when writing on the screen.
As the TravelMate Spin P6 is a convertible laptop, you can easily place the laptop in tent mode for watching movies or presentations, use it in tablet mode, stand mode, etc. On the outer lid, Acer has positioned the branding on the upper right with a brushed aluminum surface. The laptop also features ventilation holes at the rear and bottom. The weight of the laptop is barely 1.37 kg.
Acer has also included a fantastic keyboard and a large trackpad on the TravelMate Spin P6. The trackpad is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass, not only providing smooth scrolling for your fingers but also durability and responsiveness. The trackpad is also spacious, giving you enough room to move your fingers when browsing the web or using other productivity apps.
Typing on the keyboard is a breeze, and I was able to get used to the keyboard layout in less than an hour. The keys are flat and smooth to touch, providing a premium and enjoyable typing experience. They also come with backlighting, aiding usability in low-light situations. The power button is located at the top left as part of the keyboard layout, doubling as a fingerprint scanner.
The wrist rest area of the keyboard is smooth and provides a comfortable feel when placing your hands on it to type. Acer has placed dual upward-facing speakers at the top of the keyboard layout. This laptop is equipped with DTS Audio and an Intelligent Amplifier, delivering high-quality sound with deep bass without distortion.
Acer has also included a MIPI webcam optimized for conference calls. The MIPI webcam delivers bright and clear images even when users are attempting to conduct a video meeting in low-light conditions. Additionally, there's a camera shutter allowing users to cover the lens for privacy when not in use. Acer has also incorporated AI noise reduction technology to enhance voice clarity and reduce ambient noise.
Acer also ensures that the laptop provides ample ports for business users to connect various devices. On the left side of the laptop, you'll find two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, offering blazing-fast transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps. The Thunderbolt 4 ports are also used for laptop charging and can connect up to two 4K monitors.
Additionally, there's a full-sized HDMI port, a USB Type-A port, and indicators for battery status and power LED on the left side of the laptop. Looking at the right edge, you'll find a Kensington lock, a MicroSD card reader, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a slot for the Acer Active Stylus. You can easily pull out the stylus when needed and slot it back in for charging. You can also utilize the built-in MicroSD card slot.
Acer also mentions that the laptop is MIL-STD-810H certified, indicating that despite its slim profile, the Spin P6 can handle rigorous situations that may occur during business trips. Acer also ensures that the keyboard and trackpad are spill-resistant to protect internal components.
Technical Specifications and Performance
The Acer TravelMate Spin P6 not only boasts an eye-catching design but also comes with some of the latest specifications in the market. The laptop is equipped with the latest 11th generation Intel processor, and our review unit comes with the Intel i7-1165G7, clocked at 2.80 GHz. It has 8GB LPDDR4 memory and a high-speed 512GB PCIe SSD (HFM512GD3JX016N) with Windows 10 Pro installed.
While 8GB DDR4 RAM is sufficient, we believe business laptops should ideally have 16GB of RAM. Fortunately, this product line offers options up to 32GB LPDDR4 and up to 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD. That being said, we're impressed with both the design and performance of the laptop. It handles most tasks swiftly, including editing and office work. Watching movies is enjoyable thanks to the consistent colors of the IPS display and dual upward-facing DTS Audio speakers.
It's also worth mentioning that the Acer TravelMate Spin P6 comes with its own industry-grade security features such as the Trusted Platform Module 2.0 for hardware-level authentication to safeguard sensitive data and vPro for remote management technology. Additionally, Acer's User Sensing Technology helps accurately detect users based on range and motion. The laptop will lock the screen when you're away and easily log you back in with the assistance of Windows Hello and IR webcam. And as mentioned earlier, there's also a fingerprint scanner on the power button.

Battery
Acer mentions that the new TravelMate Spin P6 can extend up to 18 hours of office work. This laptop also comes with fast charging support, capable of charging up to 80% in just one hour.
