In recent years, Xiaomi Band models have been well-received by many users. Continuing this success, Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro - the company's current flagship smartband with many improvements in features and user experience compared to the Xiaomi Band 7 Pro. I'll share more details about these through the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro review below.
Xiaomi Band 8 Pro sensors deliver high-precision results
Similar to other Xiaomi wristbands, we need to download the Mi Fitness app to our mobile device to fully utilize the functions of the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro. Thanks to this app, users can effectively monitor and manage their health indicators. At the same time, we can also easily customize the device deeply, such as: Lock screen, allowed notification apps,...

Regarding the sensors of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro, Xiaomi stated that this wristband has upgraded accompanying sensors to provide more accurate results than the previous generation. However, it's important to note that Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is not a dedicated medical device, so the results related to heart rate, SpO2,... may not be completely accurate. Nevertheless, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro can somewhat help us identify body conditions.

A plus point is that Xiaomi Band 8 Pro can measure steps, calories, and number of times standing up in a day relatively accurately. During a short walk, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro counts steps quite accurately. Moreover, this smartband also alerts us to stand up after 30 minutes of sitting, and I appreciate this feature. Of course, I can adjust the activity time frame of this feature in the Mi Fitness software.
However, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro cannot distinguish between riding a motorcycle and sitting still. Therefore, I feel a bit annoyed when the device prompts me to stand up while I'm riding a motorcycle on the road. I hope Xiaomi will soon address this issue as soon as possible.

Moreover, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro supports over 150 workout modes with a variety of sports disciplines, which is a big plus. For example, when I'm running, the product continuously records necessary information such as steps, heart rate, and calories burned. All of this is clearly recorded on the watch as well as the Mi Fitness app. Thanks to that, I can adjust the workout intensity to achieve the set goals.
Not stopping there, Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro is equipped with many sophisticated positioning systems including: GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou, and QZSS. Therefore, I can record workout distance, workout time,... without having to carry a phone.

Another plus point of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is its ability to track sleep. Specifically, this device clearly displays my sleep status such as: Deep sleep time, wake-up time,... After Xiaomi Band 8 Pro collects continuous 7-day sleep data, the device will provide insights into my sleep habits through a very visual animal image.

As you can see in the image above, my sleep habits resemble a Shark, meaning I sleep very little, even while sleeping, I'm still thinking a lot. This affects my sleep quality negatively and needs to be improved soon. I consider this a useful and visual feature.
The operating system HyperOS on Xiaomi Band 8 Pro runs smoothly but has some drawbacks
The Xiaomi HyperOS operating system is one of the impressive features of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro, something the previous generation - Xiaomi Band 7 Pro didn't have. Thanks to the new operating system, I have a seamless connection experience between Xiaomi Band 8 Pro and my Xiaomi 13 (the phone has also been updated with Xiaomi HyperOS).

I noticed that the interface inside Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is displayed very minimally with application icons, features described visually. For those who are new to this operating system, I think it will take about 2 - 3 days to get used to it. Because it took me a whole day to understand all the settings inside even though I had used many Xiaomi devices running HyperOS before.

Additionally, the Xiaomi HyperOS interface on Xiaomi Band 8 Pro runs very smoothly with high stability. During usage, I haven't encountered any lag or freezing issues. This is also thanks to the 60 Hz refresh rate of the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro's screen, making every swipe and touch operation smooth. Moreover, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro receives notifications very quickly, even when my Xiaomi 13 is experiencing delayed notifications.

However, the Xiaomi HyperOS operating system on Xiaomi Band 8 Pro encounters some minor drawbacks, notably font issues when receiving messages with accompanying icons.

Specifically, the icons in message notifications are displayed as squares, making it necessary for me to open the device to view details. I haven't encountered this issue when using smartbands from other brands. Additionally, I only receive call notifications and cannot directly answer calls with Xiaomi Band 8 Pro.
Xiaomi Band 8 Pro battery lasts continuously for nearly 2 days with my usage needs
According to the manufacturer's announcement, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro features a 289 mAh battery that lasts up to 16 days in basic usage mode or about 6 days with Always On Display enabled. Of course, these timeframes vary depending on individual settings and usage frequency.

For my usage needs, I typically use Xiaomi Band 8 Pro at a high intensity with settings such as: Wrist raise to show screen, continuous weather updates, continuous heart rate monitoring, stress monitoring, SpO2 tracking, sleep tracking, and brightness set to 100%. With such usage intensity, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro can continuously operate for nearly 2 days. You can see in the image below, I used Xiaomi Band 8 Pro with 100% battery at 10:04 AM on March 2nd, and by 4:00 PM on March 4th, the device still had 21% battery remaining.

Based on my experience, I believe the battery life of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is average. If you don't configure the features like I do, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro may provide longer battery life.
Xiaomi Band 8 Pro retains a similar design to its predecessor but with a larger display.
Overall, the design language of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro shares many similarities with the Xiaomi Band 7 Pro. This smartband still utilizes a rectangular frame similar to the previous generation but slightly larger in size. Consequently, the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro weighs more than the Xiaomi Band 7 Pro (specifically 22.5 grams compared to 20.5 grams).

Nevertheless, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro still provides a comfortable wearing experience. Additionally, the frame of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is gently curved, preventing any discomfort on the wrist during prolonged wear.

One aspect I appreciate about Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is its frame. Specifically, the frame is solidly constructed and coated with a layer of metal on the outside. This not only enhances its durability but also adds a touch of elegance. At first glance, it's difficult to identify Xiaomi Band 8 Pro as a mid-range smartband.

The default strap of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro evokes contrasting feelings for me. On one hand, I'm pleased with the comfortable feel of the TPU plastic strap, which is breathable and soft. Moreover, the strap attaches to the main body with a snap-on mechanism, allowing for easy strap replacement. However, I also feel a bit puzzled about how to wear the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro strap.

Specifically, the default strap of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro utilizes a reverse hook clasp. When I first used the device, it took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to wear it. Even after using Xiaomi Band 8 Pro for a week, I still haven't gotten used to this reverse hook clasp. Therefore, I hope the company will revert to the traditional hook clasp to provide a more convenient wearing experience.

The back of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is made of plastic and is very well finished. This is also where the manufacturer places specialized sensors such as heart rate, SPO2, ... and the magnetic charging port. Especially, this charging port shares the same cable with Xiaomi Band 8, and I also own this bracelet model. Therefore, I can use one charger for both wristbands.

Furthermore, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is equipped with a screen size of up to 1.74 inches, larger than the 1.73-inch display of Xiaomi Band 7 Pro. I find this screen size relatively large compared to many wristband models in the same segment. Based on my experience, the screen of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro can display a lot of information.

In addition to the size change, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro has a resolution of 336 x 480 pixels with a super smooth 60 Hz refresh rate and brightness increased to 600 nits. As a result, all notifications and images from Xiaomi Band 8 Pro are detailed and clear in various lighting conditions. Moreover, thanks to the high refresh rate, the touchscreen of Xiaomi Band 8 Pro feels very smooth.
Conclusion
In summary, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is a very good upgrade compared to Xiaomi Band 7 Pro in terms of features, user experience, and exterior design. However, the device still has some minor drawbacks in the Xiaomi HyperOS operating system, and I hope Xiaomi will address them soon in the future. Currently, Xiaomi Band 8 Pro is available at Mytour with a price of 1.79 million VND (the selling price may vary depending on the time and promotional program).
