Following the trend set by smart TVs and refrigerators, LG integrates AI into washing machines, introducing intelligent features such as optimized wash modes, quick cycles, and superior bacteria elimination.
LG has recently launched a line of direct-drive washing machines equipped with AI technology named LG AI DD. According to the company, this product line uses artificial intelligence to eliminate guesswork and predictions, making the laundry process smoother and more effective.
Setting Optimal Wash Modes Automatically
Typically, users tend to combine various types of clothing in a single wash, from shirts, T-shirts, sleepwear, school uniforms, trousers, fabric pants, to office dresses. For diverse laundry baskets, users often choose the 'Mix' mode or the normal mode (Cotton - Cotton fabric). While these wash modes may be suitable for some fabric types, they can become too harsh or gentle for others, causing clothes to fade, stretch, or damage quickly.
LG AI DD addresses this issue not only through its ability to determine the load size but also by sensing and analyzing fabric material after receiving a load of clothes into the washing drum. Subsequently, the AI DD technology performs calculations, cross-referencing with 20,000 data points on washing machine usage habits. The machine then automatically selects a washing model and drum motion suitable for different garments, ensuring gentle care for delicate items while effectively cleaning thicker fabrics. Thanks to this AI-equipped washer, the lifespan of clothes is prolonged compared to conventional machines. Additionally, by determining fabric softness, the AI washer controls vibrations by optimizing drum rotations, reducing vibrations by up to 44%, and noise by 15% compared to non-AI washing machines. 'Having the washing machine automatically set intelligent wash modes is very helpful as it is easy to use for people of all ages, ensuring both cleanliness and durability of clothes,' says Ms. Ngoc Thuy (District Tan Binh, Ho Chi Minh City).
Faster Washing, Stain Removal, and Superior Bacteria Elimination
One of the outstanding features of LG AI DD is the TurboWash 360, which integrates 4 multidirectional spray nozzles, reaching every part of the clothing. This helps disperse soap bubbles, making clothes cleaner and more easily washable.
Also, thanks to this TurboWash 360 feature, when a quick wash is needed, LG AI DD takes an average of about 39 minutes but still ensures thorough cleaning of multiple dirty garments.
Furthermore, LG emphasizes that the Steam+ steam washing mode on this washing machine helps eliminate 99.9% of bacteria and allergens. The Steam+ mode generates steam without wetting the fabric, keeping clothes dry while reducing wrinkles by up to 30%, and preventing allergens by up to 99.9%. These modern features make daily laundry tasks for families more straightforward, convenient, and time-saving.
