The Marksman-as-Support strategy continues to undergo a significant reduction in power from Riot Games
Not long ago, the reigning world champion - BeryL, highlighted the factors contributing to the strength of the Marksman-as-Support approach. Essentially, Support-focused items like Spectral Scythe and Spellblade possess superior strength compared to Relic Shield or Steel Plate, particularly during the laning phase. As a result, Marksman champions (known for their high attack range) heavily utilize these item types.

Perhaps Riot Games has taken note of these concerns raised by BeryL, leading them to make adjustments to Support items. Specifically, the cooldown period for generating gold when dealing damage to enemy champions with Spectral Scythe and Spellblade has been increased from 10 to 12 seconds. Additionally, the energy regeneration stats of these items have been significantly reduced.

Furthermore, Riot Games will directly enhance the effectiveness of the Relic Shield and Steel Plate item category. Essentially, the healing capacity of this item category will see a substantial increase in the early stages of the game. This modification holds the potential to strengthen the Tank Support category in the next patch.
For Spectral Scythe and Spellblade, the aforementioned adjustments will notably diminish the gold earning potential for champions utilizing them. With the Marksman-as-Support strategy, this change significantly slows down the progress towards obtaining Umbral Glaive compared to previous versions. As a result, the map control capability of this strategy is considerably reduced.

Furthermore, Riot's reduction in the energy recharge capability of this equipment group also weakens champions like Nami and Lulu. Hopefully, the aforementioned changes by Riot will bring the Support position back to a balanced state.
