(Homeland) - The new effects of the Cosmic Engine appear relatively lackluster and unsuitable for many Mage champions.
Among the Mage-centric items, Cosmic Engine stands out as a unique gear. With its skill point regeneration and increased movement speed effects, this equipment is suitable for Mages like Ryze, Cassiopeia, Vladimir... These are characters that need to constantly move in battles to maintain their positions and maximize damage.

The weakness of the Cosmic Engine lies in the movement speed boost effect, which only activates when attacking the enemy champion with 3 hits (basic attacks, skills). If opponents can dodge the player's skills, activating this effect becomes challenging. Perhaps for this reason, Riot Games has intervened to revamp the internals of the Cosmic Engine on the test server.
Specifically, characters wielding the Cosmic Engine will receive a 2.5% movement speed increase every time they deal damage to the enemy champion. This effect is received every 1.5 seconds and can stack up to 4 times. At maximum stacks, players will receive an additional 10% movement speed from the Cosmic Engine.

As soon as the new effects of this item were announced, Riot Games received a considerable amount of mixed feedback from the community. The reason behind it is that the new effect does not align well with the champions who were already performing well with the Cosmic Engine. The fact that champions with short cooldowns like Ryze, Cassiopeia, Vladimir... can only stack it once every 1.5 seconds is a significant limitation.

Understanding that the combat duration in League of Legends (LoL) is relatively short is crucial. Asking a Mage champion with limited defensive stats to continuously deal damage for almost 5 seconds is nearly impossible. Consequently, the practicality of the new Cosmic Engine effect is significantly lower compared to the old version.
We hope that Riot will make reasonable adjustments before introducing the 'new' Cosmic Engine to the official server. They might consider solutions like reducing the maximum stacking time of this item to enhance its interaction with Mages like Ryze, Cassiopeia, Vladimir, and others.
