The classes and traits being nerfed are proving to be overwhelmingly powerful in the current Teamfight Tactics meta.
Mutation
After a period of balance adjustments and significant buffs, Mutation has become the most popular team composition in Teamfight Tactics. The reason behind this popularity is that Riot's tweaks have balanced the Mutation effects, making them fair and not skewed in terms of power. As a result, players can deploy Mutation teams in almost every match, regardless of the in-game effects. Some effects, such as Technological Implant and Cannibalize, have even become excessively strong.

In the upcoming Patch 12.8, Riot Games will heavily nerf the aforementioned effects as both defensive and offensive stats they provide will be significantly reduced. Additionally, Kha'Zix will undergo substantial damage nerfs, diminishing Mutation teams' strength in the later stages of the game. Riot Games may aim to prevent Mutation from being an all-around composition throughout the entire match, leading to a series of adjustments to reduce its power.
Recycle
TFT Patch 12.8: Recycling, a powerhouse comp alongside Mutation, faces significant power reductions to balance the 'champion economy'. The dominance of Recycling stems from providing substantial shields and the ability to 'hack equipment,' allowing the team to possess significant damage and resilience without consuming many resources. Teams relying on Recycling show exceptional strength early in the game and remain formidable towards the end.

To address this, Riot's solution involves nerfing Recycling's shield stats and key champions of this tribe in Patch 12.8. Ekko's ability to slow down opponents' attack speed will receive a substantial nerf. Meanwhile, Jinx will undergo a significant reduction in skill damage at the first two levels, making it no longer feasible to stack magic damage items on her. Teams utilizing 4-star Recycling compositions may become considerably weaker in the upcoming Patch 12.8.
Assassins
Although there is no direct nerf to damage or critical strike stats, careful observation reveals significant buffs to Assassin counters in Patch 12.8. Firstly, the healing ability of the Chemical subclass receives a substantial buff from 5-star champions onwards. Additionally, the two classes - Tech and Engineer - capable of creating robust shields also see an increase in strength. Clearly, if Assassins cannot swiftly eliminate lineups featuring these classes, they may easily find themselves in a losing situation.

Furthermore, the Assassin team's wildcard, Ekko, also faces a nerf to his ability to slow down opponents' attack speed. This makes countering frontline enemies more challenging for this team composition. Even the late-game physical damage from Kha'Zix takes a hit, presenting difficulties for the Assassin team in the upcoming update. In a meta where many compositions are strengthening against them, Assassins may struggle, and players need to carefully consider before deploying this lineup.
