The community is taken aback by news from 2025, signaling permanent changes coming to League of Legends.
By 2023, League of Legends has officially been around for over 14 years, with 13 update seasons since its initial update version in 2010. Throughout its long-standing history, Riot has implemented numerous adjustments and added various features to shape LoL into its current state. Maintaining the allure and appeal of a top-tier MOBA game for over a decade, as LoL has done, is no small feat, and Riot has achieved just that.

Without innovative changes like 'Big Updates,' it's unlikely LoL could sustain itself. A few years ago, Riot made significant changes to key features of LoL, such as the rune system and interface. However, players are constantly evolving and skewing younger, demanding more. Therefore, recent information from Riot representatives suggests that LoL is preparing to embark on new paths with even more groundbreaking changes.

Riot Populasers, the Game Director of LoL, states: 'It's been 15 months since I took on this role, and I'm considering newer journeys. We should pursue seemingly unrealistic dreams rather than just striving for perfection. The allure lies in balance, changing with inertia, from the journey to the destination. [...] Riot shows more concern for the game than players realize. But players care even more about LoL than Riot can understand. Every time I attend events, I'm further convinced of this viewpoint.'

'We want to build a development roadmap for LoL based on what players feel. Logic sometimes is less important than emotion. Players want to be satisfied both audibly and visually. Riot wants to prove value and earn respect. There will be a lot for players in 2024, and 2025 will change LoL forever.'

With insights from Riot representatives, many gamers are envisioning a scenario where LoL 2.0 will debut in 2025, marking a complete overhaul of LoL. Currently, champions are still being reworked, new champions are being introduced, so it can't be considered a breakthrough. Only a 'Big Update' for a new version of LoL could address the references made by Riot's director.

Certainly, these will be enticing yet challenging changes, and Riot must solve this puzzle sensibly to satisfy all its gamers.
