Faker once again brings disappointment to the new champion Hwei.
Many fans following Faker from the legendary days of the LoL scene's debut will be familiar with his exceptional skills. Notably, Faker diligently studies and practices each champion, having utilized 75 champions (as of March 2023) out of the total 175 champions in the League of Legends universe. Additionally, the LoL community widely spreads information that some champions became urgently nerfed by Riot after Faker used them, turning them into unparalleled powerhouses in ranked or professional matches.

Recently, Faker has conducted experiments with the new champion Hwei ahead of the new season. With vast knowledge of LoL, Faker easily identifies the main aspects of the champion Hwei. According to Faker's analysis, although Hwei possesses many skills, they bear certain similarities to long-standing champions in LoL, such as Brand or Volibear. Therefore, Faker believes that while the new champion has many skills, they are not overly difficult to play.

Perhaps due to Faker's remarks, Riot August - the head of LoL's design department - stated: 'If you're wondering why Hwei seems weaker than usual and hasn't received any power buffs, then perhaps you need to see Faker's perspective, to realize that this champion is balanced.' Of course, this is just a jest from the lead designer of LoL, but it also recalls the era when Faker was dubbed the 'Champion Nerfer' by fans, as any champion he played became overwhelmingly strong.
Furthermore, at this current moment, the new champion Hwei has yet to participate in any professional matches. Thus, in order to determine whether a champion truly needs adjustments in strength, Riot will need to observe the performance of that champion in environments of higher caliber than just ranked play. Adjustments for Hwei may only come if Riot observes and evaluates that the champion indeed requires modifications. For instance, K'Sante had to undergo numerous matches before receiving appropriate adjustments.

As for Faker, the new season is approaching. It's highly likely that Faker will have matches using Hwei in the Mid Lane position, as he has already demonstrated the effectiveness of the new champion after experiencing it in ranked matches or during practice sessions.
