GUIDE TO ROTATING TEXT IN WORD
Rotating text in Word can be performed for text in Textbox and text in table cells.
1. Rotating text for text in Textbox
Suppose you have inserted a text box in Word and there is text inside the Textbox as shown below and you need to manipulate it to rotate the text in different directions?
Step 1: You select the object to rotate -> then go to the Format tab -> select Rotate -> you choose the rotation angle according to your needs:
- Rotate right 90: Rotate clockwise 90 degrees
- Rotate left 90: Rotate counterclockwise 90 degrees
- Flip Vertical: Rotate text vertically
- Flip Horizontal: Rotate text horizontally.
Below is when you choose to rotate the object 90 degrees counterclockwise:
Step 2: You see the result after selecting will be as shown below:
If you want to rotate text at an angle other than the default angle, you perform similar actions as above (go to the Format tab -> select Rotate) then choose More Rotation Options:
The Layout interface appears. In the Rotate section of the Size tab, you enter the angle measurement you want to rotate the object -> then select OK to complete:

Another handy way to rotate text is by directly manipulating the object. You can do this by holding down the left mouse button on the circular icon of the object -> then you can rotate the text as desired.
2. Rotating Text within Table Cells
Suppose you want to rotate text (highlighted in red) within a table as shown below.
Follow these steps to rotate the text.
Step 1: You select the text content you want to rotate -> then right-click and choose Text Direction...
Step 2: The dialog box appears, you click on the direction of the text you want to rotate -> then select OK
And the result is that you have rotated the text within the table.
