Sa Huynh culture holds a unique historical value, evolving right in the heart of Central Vietnam, designated as a special national heritage site by the Prime Minister.
Sa Huynh culture is officially recognized as a special national heritage site
On December 30th, the Prime Minister decided to classify the Sa Huynh cultural archaeological site (in Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province) as a special national heritage site.
Located about 45 km south of Quang Ngai city, the Sa Huynh relic complex (Duc Pho town) lies close to National Highway 1 and the North-South railway line. The Sa Huynh cultural relic complex comprises 5 points, covering an area of 480 hectares with numerous famous landmarks such as An Khe, Phu Khuong, Long Thanh, Thanh Duc marshes, the ancient village of Go Co... continuously distributed in the space of marshes, sea, and sandbars of Sa Huynh.

The freshwater marsh of An Khe is likened to the “heart” of Sa Huynh culture relics. In 1909, French archaeologist M. Vinet first discovered about 200 jar burials near the Sa Huynh coastline, close to the ancient village of Go Co.

The archaeological site is known as the Sa Huynh Jar Burial Grounds, forming a cultural triangle alongside Dong Son culture in the North and Oc Eo culture in the South.

The Sa Huynh Cultural Exhibition Center has commenced operations, showcasing numerous precious artifacts and materials to domestic and international tourists. Additionally, the unique ancient village of Go Co lies within the Sa Huynh cultural space.

This ancient village features a stone slab inscribed with ten lines of ancient Cham script (Phan characters) in Go Co village. Furthermore, it still preserves ancient temple ruins, 11 ancient wells, and ancient Cham Pa paths dating back hundreds of years, reflecting the distinctive characteristics of Sa Huynh culture over 3,000 years ago.
