The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Lao Cai, in collaboration with Sa Pa district and relevant authorities, is coordinating the procedures to register Vietnam records for 3 famous landmarks in Sa Pa.
It is the marvel of the largest terraced rice fields in Vietnam in the Mường Hoa Valley (Sa Pa), covering 935.4 hectares, strictly protected in the administrative areas of Lao Chải, Tả Van, and Hầu Thào.

The landmark of terraced fields with the most tiers in Vietnam, located in Vù Lùng Sung village, Trung Chải commune (Sa Pa), boasts 121 tiers and stands as the most beautiful terraced fields in Sa Pa district and Lao Cai province, with a history of over 100 years.
The renowned Ô Quy Hồ Pass, the longest in Vietnam, traverses National Highway 4D across the Hoàng Liên mountain range at an altitude of 2,070 meters above sea level, stretching nearly 50 kilometers to connect Lao Cai province with Lai Châu province.
In early 2009, the Travel and Leisure Magazine (USA) voted Sa Pa's terraced fields among the Top 7 most beautiful and spectacular terraced fields in Asia and the world. In mid-2012, the international travel information network Globalgras hopper affirmed that Ô Quý Hồ Pass (Heaven's Gate - Sa Pa) is one of the 10 most beautiful landmarks in Vietnam chosen by Western tourists for visiting during their trips to Vietnam.
According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Lao Cai, the Vietnam Record Organization, along with the functional agencies of Lao Cai province, is conducting investigations, surveys, and assessments to officially recognize the Vietnam records of the mentioned 3 landmarks. The official announcement is scheduled for the celebration of Sa Pa tourism's 110th anniversary on November 2, 2013.
