III. Best UPU Letter Writing Samples for the 51st Edition in 2022 on the Climate Crisis Topic
1. UPU Letter Writing to the Leadership of Hanoi City for the 51st Edition
Hanoi, January 18, 2022
To the leadership of Hanoi City!
As a citizen of Vietnam and a child born on the historic land of Hanoi, today I write this letter to the city's leadership to express my concerns and thoughts on the climate crisis issue in the city and globally.
Through media and real-life observation, I have noticed that not only the city, but also Vietnam as a whole, along with countries worldwide, are facing the issue of climate change. I perceive the deterioration of the climate through information about natural disasters, epidemics broadcasted daily on television and in newspapers. In recent days, Hanoi's fine dust pollution index has also reached the highest level in the country. This is an alarming reality, and I am worried because our lives and health will be affected by climate change and environmental pollution. Therefore, I believe it is time for us to take concrete and decisive actions.
I hope that the city's leadership will come up with effective solutions to 'heal' the environment, restoring the climate to its natural balance. To bring about a green life, we students will be delighted and proud to contribute our small efforts to improve the current situation. We will participate in planting more green trees, limiting the use of plastic bags, disposable plastic containers, saving electricity and clean water... I believe that the collective effort of the people nationwide can push back the climate crisis, bringing about a green, clean, and beautiful living environment.
In closing, I wish the city's leadership good health, successful work, and clear guidance so that we can soon overcome this climate crisis.

2. UPU Letter Writing for the 51st Edition to President Vu Xuan Phuc
Hanoi, February 6, 2022
Dear President Vu Xuan Phuc!
Allow me to introduce myself, I am Minh Khang, a student studying at a secondary school in Hanoi. In recent years, climate change has been a hot issue globally, and I am writing this letter to you to express my personal views on the issue of climate change worldwide as well as in our country.
Amidst the global climate crisis, Vietnam is one of the countries severely affected by climate change. In recent years, abnormal weather phenomena such as natural disasters, flooding, etc., have been occurring more frequently and severely, causing significant losses to human lives, property, and the national economy. The historic floods in 2019 in the central region claimed countless lives and properties of innocent people. Prolonged rain and wind caused landslides, claiming the lives of 13 rescue soldiers in Rao Trang. It's truly heartbreaking! Through this, I realize that implementing strategies to cope with climate change is extremely crucial.
Today, I write this letter in the hope that in the near future, our country will have the most specific and effective strategies to mitigate the impact of climate change, ensuring the best quality of life for the people. I sincerely thank you.
Student.

3. UPU Letter Writing for the 51st Edition to Prime Minister Nguyen Minh Chinh
......., on the ...th of ... month, 2022
Dear Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh!
I am a high school student in the city. On the occasion of the launch of the 51st UPU International Letter Writing Competition, I would like to send this letter to you to express my thoughts on the issue of climate crisis.
I realize that this is a major issue directly affecting the health and lives of the people. Over the years, terrifying natural disasters have been occurring more frequently and intensely. Terrifying floods surge in every evening. Storms sweep through the central region. Earthquakes and landslides occur in mountainous areas. Air pollution levels are alarmingly high. All of these are part of the climate crisis.
To overcome that, I believe we must take action from the smallest things, individually. Because when the community comes together for a common goal, the power it creates will be immense. Each person planting a few more trees, using fewer plastic bags when shopping, always disposing of rubbish properly, saving a bit more electricity... That cumulative effect is already amazing.
To truly push back the climate crisis, we need to create a strong movement. And to create that wave, we need your leadership - the beloved leader of the people.

4. Writing a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations for the 51st UPU
Ho Chi Minh City, 8th February 2022
Dear Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations!
My name is Nguyen Ngoc Ha, a humble citizen of the S-shaped country Vietnam.
Dear sir, as a student and a global citizen, I always aspire to contribute my modest efforts to the development of my country as well as to keep the environment clean and beautiful. However, in recent years, as I have been following the information about climate and the environment, I have noticed that our planet is facing unpredictable dangers due to climate change.
Particularly, my country Vietnam is one of the nations heavily affected by climate change. Climate change impacts tourism, trade, energy, and many direct or indirect economic activities of the country as well as the lives of its people. Our children also have to deal with air pollution and floods, affecting their health.
According to me, to slow down the process of climate change on Earth, every citizen should increase their sense of responsibility by limiting the use of personal transportation, reducing the use of synthetic chemicals, stopping the use of plastic bags in daily life, participating in tree planting, forest protection, etc.
The authorities need to strengthen control over population growth, deforestation, reduce the use of fossil fuels, renovate, and upgrade infrastructure... In this way, step by step, we can join hands to push back climate change and protect our green home.
The letter is getting long here, so I'll stop writing. I thank you for reading the letter and hope you will accept my thoughts and wishes so that we can make new strides in environmental protection and keep the earth green.
I eagerly await bold actions from you.
Nguyen Ngoc Ha
5. Write to UPU 51st for President of the United States Joe Biden
Binh Duong, February 10, 2022
Dear President Joe Biden!
Sir, as a global citizen, today I am writing this letter to you to address some urgent matters related to the climate issue on our planet.
Perhaps you are aware that last year, scientists did not have many positive things to announce about the global climate issue. The CO2 concentration in the atmosphere, after breaking a record of 3 million years, continues to increase continuously in the first half of 2020. This is while human CO2 emissions have decreased by 17% during the same period. This reduction is almost certain not to be sustained as countries lift lockdowns and COVID-19 restrictions, and the global economy resumes operation. Humanity is still far from achieving a 3% annual reduction in CO2 concentration to limit temperature rise to below 2°C by 2030.
Also, according to statistics from meteorologists, the period from 2016-2020 was the hottest in the history of meteorology. Extreme weather phenomena such as floods and droughts will occur more frequently, pushing many animal species to the brink of extinction. Even humans are being put in danger, as evidenced by the famine that has devastated the North African region for over a year now.
Climate change, manifested by global warming and rising sea levels, has generated extreme weather phenomena. This is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity in the 21st century as climate change directly affects ecosystems, environmental resources, and human life. Changes in climate conditions and rapidly increasing CO2 levels have severely impacted ecosystems, freshwater sources, air, fuel, clean energy, food, and health.
Under the influence of temperature, air, and melting ice, both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems are experiencing the effects of floods, droughts, wildfires, and ocean acidification. Droughts deplete drinking and irrigation water sources, severely affecting the agriculture of many countries. Earth's temperature rise is causing species extinction or endangerment. About 50% of plant and animal species face extinction by 2050 if Earth's temperature rises from 1.1 to 6.4 degrees Celsius. This loss is due to habitat loss due to desertification, deforestation, and warming seas.
And of course, humans are not exempt from the impact. Desertification and rising sea levels threaten our habitats. As vegetation and wildlife disappear, so do our sources of food, fuel, and income. Food and freshwater are increasingly scarce, land is disappearing, but the population continues to grow, leading to conflicts and wars between countries and territories. Rising temperatures combined with floods and droughts are becoming a threat to global public health. While some parts of the world are submerged in relentless floods, others are suffering from prolonged severe droughts. Droughts deplete drinking and irrigation water sources, severely affecting the agriculture of many countries.
The COVID-19 pandemic is shaking the world, but humanity would be better able to cope with it if we weren't simultaneously facing the immense danger of climate change. Similar or even larger-scale disasters are sure to occur in the future. The best way to prevent or mitigate their impact can only be through immediate global community action to address climate change, giving humanity a chance to escape the abyss.
