Samsung Electronics announced plans to enhance the Remote Access feature on Smart TVs released in 2019. This feature allows input devices, including keyboards, to connect to Samsung's Smart TVs, facilitating content control on the screen. Additionally, cloud-based office services via browser-based computing can be accessed through the Remote Access feature, enabling users to access various files and documents on their smart TV.

Hyogun Lee, Vice President of Display Business at Samsung Electronics, stated: “Samsung is committed to creating intuitive and convenient experiences for consumers. With the remote access feature, users will be able to easily access numerous programs, apps, and cloud services installed on various devices on their TV screens. We will continue to work with partners to expand the compatibility of the remote access feature and provide more services to users”.
Remote Access feature enables global usage leveraging VMware Horizon technology, a leading Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution provided by Samsung and VMware, a top software innovator in the enterprise sector.
Shankar Iyer, Senior Vice President and Head of Customer Computing at VMware, stated: “Samsung and VMware share a common goal of facilitating highly efficient office work. We continue to expand our collaborative efforts to deliver a seamless experience for users when working remotely, accessing computers, virtual apps, and online services from their favorite Samsung devices – including Samsung Smart TVs”.
To ensure security related to wireless connections and cloud services, Samsung has integrated its proprietary Knox security technology into the Remote Access feature. Introduced in Samsung's Smart TVs since 2015, Knox security technology receives regular software updates to provide continuous protection. This technology is also certified with Common Criteria for security capabilities and stands as the sole security solution in the TV industry to receive this certification.
