For some users, the Galaxy S10/S10+ still lacks perfection in terms of design due to the punch-hole on the screen for the front camera.
Samsung has confirmed the development of under-display camera technology to create a 'perfect full-screen device'.
Most smartphone manufacturers are seeking innovative methods to improve the viewing experience. To achieve a higher screen-to-body ratio, manufacturers have adjusted the placement of the front camera in various ways. We have seen designs like pop-up cameras, punch-hole displays, waterdrop notches, sliding mechanisms, and more. However, these solutions have not yet provided users with a perfect full-screen experience.
Therefore, according to South Korean media, Samsung is developing a technology to create perfect full-screen devices. Samsung's Vice President in charge of display R&D, Yang Byung-duk, has also confirmed this. He shared insights about the potential of perfect full-screen devices a few weeks ago.
According to Mr. Byung-duk, Samsung's technology in development aims for a flawless display, without any flaws, including punch holes. All sensors will be placed inside the screen while ensuring no impact on the viewing experience. This enables Samsung to achieve a screen-to-body ratio of up to 100% without sacrificing any edges.
The new technology also does not affect the functionality of the screen and camera, both of which operate without any errors. The front camera and screen will interact with each other, for example, when the front camera is not in use, the camera hole area will be hidden and display normal content.
This is not the first time Samsung has revealed the technology they are developing. In some cases, the South Korean giant has released important information about the technologies they are incubating.
However, there is still very little information about Samsung's actual full-screen technology at the moment. Hopefully, Samsung will succeed in researching this technology to soon bring it to the market for consumers.
