Samsung is reportedly considering removing the current 3x tele sensor, currently paired with a promising 10x periscope lens. This means the South Korean manufacturer will ditch the dual zoom sensor system in favor of a more advanced one.

The development of Samsung's camera on the Galaxy S series is also noteworthy. The Galaxy S20 Ultra brought breakthrough 100x digital zoom capabilities, thanks to a 48MP telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. Subsequently, the S21 Ultra was upgraded with a 12MP telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom and impressive 50x hybrid zoom.
In recent iterations, such as , , and , Samsung has equipped its phones with two tele sensors, each with a resolution of 10MP. This camera system supports 3x and 10x optical zoom, while hybrid zoom is capped at 100x until the release of the Ultra.
Initial rumors suggested that the Galaxy S24 Ultra would introduce a new sensor with adjustable zoom levels. However, subsequent reports indicated that Samsung had changed its plans and decided to retain the current camera setup for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
