A patent application has been filed by Samsung for a smartphone with a 'disappearing' dual display on the back. The recent disclosure on 25/08 indicates the potential for fresh and 'non-monotonous' developments in the overall smartphone industry...This patent illustrates the sketch of a straightforward smartphone design, featuring a key uniqueness of an 'almost transparent' dual back display. It can be concealed or adjusted to seamlessly blend with the phone's back when completely turned off or to hide a portion of the screen.
A1 and A2 are expected positions for the dual screens. In this layout, the A2 screen section will be adjacent to the camera module, slightly larger than the camera section. The A1 screen section will be placed on the remaining half of the back with a square design. With this design, there's potential for the dual back screens to support Always-On Display functionality, used for quick projections or displaying custom interfaces. It can also show notifications or messages with diverse and unlimited content display settings.
The positions of the connection ports, speaker strip, microphone, power button, volume buttons, and the curved screen edges, as per the drawings, will not include a front-facing camera.Previously, China's ZTE introduced a smartphone model with a similar 'back display' design. However, the back screens on these two smartphones are not transparent; instead, they are made from a slightly frosted glass to 'hide' and function as a regular back panel.

Nubia Z20This design concept might not be practical for a regular smartphone, but it seems quite fitting for foldable models, an area where Samsung appears to be leading in the smartphone industry. Although still just an idea on paper, it holds promising potential for bold development in the future...
