Following the launch of its first 200MP sensor last year, the company is now aiming to expand its capabilities by introducing a 440MP camera in the near future
Samsung is actively working on multiple new camera sensorsAccording to leaker Revegnus (@Tech_Reve), Samsung is in the process of developing three new camera sensors: 50MP ISOCELL GN6, 200MP ISOCELL HP7, and 440MP ISOCELL HU1. Among these, the ISOCELL GN6 appears to be a replacement for the quality ISOCELL GN1 and ISOCELL GN2 sensors, boasting a large 1.6μm pixel size. This marks an improvement over the 1.4µm pixel size of the ISOCELL GN2 and significantly larger than the 1µm pixel size of the ISOCELL GN5. If this information holds true, the ISOCELL GN6 could be Samsung's largest and first 1-inch camera sensor, aiming to compete with Sony's IMX989
Samsung is in the process of developing a 440MP cameraThe ISOCELL HP7 200MP camera sensor is reported to have an individual pixel size of 0.6µm. This pixel size is similar to the 200MP ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor used in .
Ultimately, the 440MP ISOCELL HU1 camera sensor that Samsung is developing will surpass even the 1-inch ISOCELL GN6 sensor in size. However, it remains unclear whether it will be utilized in smartphones or not.
For more information, Samsung is preparing to launch a series of new ISOCELL sensors, including the super high-resolution 600MP sensor
