Samsung has revealed its intention to discontinue its translation app, S Translator, next month, on December 1st, 2020. S Translator was initially introduced by Samsung alongside the Galaxy S5, many years ago.

S Translator is a language translation app similar to Google Translate or Microsoft Translator. It appears on Galaxy phones as a default language and text translation tool, replacing Google Translate. However, it's evident that Samsung's S Translator cannot compete with its rivals in translation accuracy.

In an email sent to users in South Korea via Tizen Help, Samsung announced its decision to discontinue this app in the upcoming December. They expressed gratitude to users for their usage over the time as well as the company's considerable investment in the app. However, it's deemed ineffective now, leading Samsung to end its software lifecycle. Samsung also mentioned that all user data will be wiped out for information security purposes.

Samsung suggests users transition to Bixby Vision as a perfect alternative to S Translator. In fact, users have been utilizing it extensively lately, although Bixby also relies on data from Google.

If users are not fond of using Bixby Vision, they can resort to Google Translate. Recently, Google Translate has added real-time transcription feature for travelers.
