Samsung plans to upgrade the graphics chip for Galaxy S12 and Note 12, valued at 100 million USD
1. Side Note
Recently, Samsung has officially declared a collaboration with AMD (one of the two largest graphics processing unit (GPU) manufacturers in the world alongside Nvidia) to develop and equip its high-end smartphones in the future with the most powerful graphics processors.

AMD and Nvidia are currently the two leading brands specializing in manufacturing graphics processing units (GPUs) in the world.
According to information obtained, in collaboration with Samsung, AMD commits to providing the South Korean smartphone brand with integrated graphics chips for mobile devices. These chips are designed to consume extremely low power while delivering high performance, based on AMD Radeon technology.

The new chip models will offer higher performance while also being more energy-efficient.
Currently, Samsung's smartphones still use Mali integrated graphics chips. Although these chips are not too weak, they fail to deliver truly impressive performance. Hence, Samsung plans to replace these graphics chips with AMD chips to strengthen its position in the market. However, smartphones using Snapdragon processors will continue to use Adreno graphics chips.

While the previous graphics chip model isn't weak, it lacks the truly impressive breakthrough.
2. Release Timing
Based on revelations from AMD's CEO, in order to utilize the integrated graphics chips provided by the company, Samsung must be willing to shell out a whopping $100 million. However, this amount only covers the collaboration agreement; the cost of purchasing these chips has yet to be determined.

Samsung and AMD have officially joined forces.
The integrated AMD graphics chip in the first Exynos processor promises to debut in 2021. This coincides with the launch of Samsung's Galaxy S12 and Note 12 series. Possessing this chip, Samsung's new generation smartphones are poised to offer users smoother and more exciting experiences, ready to compete on par with Qualcomm's Snapdragon Adreno GPU or Apple's A-series processors.

Samsung can now confidently compete on equal footing with other phone brands in the current market.
Above are the latest updates on the configuration upgrades for Samsung's future smartphone lines. It can be said that the South Korean phone brand is increasingly focusing on user experience and desires.
