On the morning of May 23, several users reported that Samsung smartphones were experiencing a glitch, restarting but getting stuck in Recovery mode instead of booting into the operating system as usual.
In July 2019, our Research & Development department prepared and promptly addressed this issue in advance with a software update ready for all Galaxy smartphone users. We encourage users to regularly update software and applications to the latest versions. If users still encounter the aforementioned issue, please contact hotline 1800 588889 for further assistance,' a Samsung representative said. Responding to Zing, Samsung Vietnam acknowledged the problem with some Galaxy smartphone models running Android Pie. The company said the issue was indeed related to the lunar calendar counter conflict due to two lunar Aprils this year. Samsung also shared that it had issued an update last year to avoid the glitch.
Apart from calling the hotline, users can also bring their devices directly to major phone service centers like The Mobile World for complimentary repairs.
Earlier, starting from the morning of May 23, also known as April 1 in the lunar calendar, on social media, numerous accounts shared images of older Samsung smartphones encountering issues stuck at the Recovery screen, rendering them unusable. Most of these accounts belong to technicians or phone shop owners who receive many devices from customers for repair.
As shared by various accounts, Samsung Galaxy J series and some models of Samsung Galaxy A are also experiencing this issue, including some devices freshly unboxed and set up for the first time.
Not only in Vietnam, but some users have also posted on Chinese social media platforms indicating a similar situation. In some cases, even display units in stores are affected by this glitch.
