Samsung's Remarkable Performance in Q3: Smartphone Revenue Surges by 51% Compared to Q2

Samsung's preliminary financial results provided to investors reveal a robust growth in revenue from their phone sales compared to Q2. The major contributors to this success are the Galaxy Note 20, Z Fold 2, and flagship models. Additionally, the display and memory chip segments have operated very efficiently.

Preliminary revenue for Q3/2020 for Samsung Electronics stands at $59 billion, marking an 8% increase from the same quarter last year. This also represents Samsung's highest quarterly revenue to date, despite the ongoing pandemic. Meanwhile, Samsung's profit stands at $10.09 billion.

Samsung attributes its record-breaking quarter to effective cost management, strong performance in the display and memory chip sectors, as well as impressive sales of flagship phones. Specifically, revenue from the mobile division in Q3 reached $26.3 billion, marking a remarkable 51% increase from the previous quarter. The significant contributions of the Galaxy Note 20 and Z Fold duo are evident.

The display segment also performed exceptionally well, with all four new iPhone models this year adopting OLED screens supplied by Samsung. Similarly, Samsung remains a key provider in the memory chip market, supplying memory chips for phones, servers, and a plethora of other electronic devices.
