To help passengers save time and money on their flights, AirAsia has implemented automated check-in procedures through kiosks at airports, allowing passengers to take control of their check-in process.
Save time and money with AirAsia's automated check-in procedure.
AirAsia, a budget airline, offers domestic and international flights to over 100 destinations in 22 countries, with its headquarters located in Kuala Lumpur. Currently, AirAsia has rolled out automated check-in procedures through kiosks at airports, allowing passengers to take control of their check-in process, thus saving you more time and money on your flights.
Which airports feature AirAsia's self-check-in process?
Self-check-in and automated baggage drop kiosks are available at most airports: Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang (Malaysia), Jakarta, Bali (Indonesia), Bangkok, Chiang Mai (Thailand), Mumbai (India), Manila (Philippines), and Changi (Singapore). At these airports, passengers can independently complete the check-in process at kiosks, print boarding passes, label luggage, and drop off baggage at automated counters.
Refer to the departure terminal areas at airports in various countries according to the table below:

To expedite the check-in process at kiosks, passengers should have their booking number ready, consisting of 06 characters.

Who can perform self-check-in?
Automated check-in at airport kiosks applies to most passengers, except:
- Passengers flying to/from the United States.
- Passengers who have pre-booked seats in the emergency exit row on AirAsia Japan flights.
Passengers can still perform self-check-in even when:
- Pregnant.
- Traveling with infants aged 8 days and below.
- Having limited mobility or requiring special assistance.
- Under 16 years old and traveling alone.
- Having medical conditions.
However, the airline advises passengers to approach airline staff for assistance.
When can self-check-in begin?
For AirAsia flights:
- Self-check-in opens: 14 days before departure.
- Self-check-in closes: 1 hour before departure.
For AirAsia X:
- Self-check-in opens: 14 days before departure.
- Self-check-in closes: 1 hour before departure.
Some exceptional cases:
- Flights with AirAsia (AirAsia, Thai AirAsia, AirAsia Zest) from China start opening 14 days before and close 2 hours before departure.
- All flights to and from Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, and Thailand open 10 days before and close 1 hour before departure.

Self-check-in at kiosks is a quick way to save time and reduce waiting time at the airport. Hopefully, this information will help passengers have a good flying experience with AirAsia.
