November has returned with the joyful atmosphere across the country celebrating Vietnamese Teacher's Day on November 20th, a day when society wholeheartedly honors the noble contributions of teachers. We all have cherished memories of our teachers from our childhood, and the innocent souls of students are contemplating their beloved teachers with profound gratitude and boundless respect.
Our Vietnamese nation has a tradition of 'Respecting the Teacher, Valuing the Moral.' Teachers have played a crucial role in shaping the Vietnamese soul throughout history, serving as a bridge between the past, present, and future of the nation. In ancient society, teachers held a highly esteemed position. During feudal times, in the hierarchy of values structured as 'King - Teacher - Father,' educators were placed below the king but above parents.
There's a folk saying: 'To prosper, cross the Kiều bridge; To make your child literate, love their teacher.' In the modern era, teachers are honored as 'engineers of the soul,' and teaching is considered 'the noblest profession, for it creates creative individuals.' Today, countless educators, outstanding teachers, and millions of other teachers - those who dedicate their passion, intellect, and endure hardships to the cause of nurturing human beings. These teachers are always respected. Honoring teachers has become the natural doctrine and sentiment of each of us.
They are respected because teachers always represent what is exemplary. They not only grasp the moral principles but also have the noble mission of imparting them to everyone, especially their generations of students, helping them become educated, morally upright individuals with the capacity to contribute to society and the nation. For these reasons, on September 28, 1982, the Council of Ministers issued Decision No. 167/QD-HDPT declaring November 20th of each year as 'Vietnamese Teacher's Day.' This demonstrates the deep concern of the Party and the state for the education and training sector, while honoring the position and role of teachers in the construction and protection of the Vietnamese Fatherland. Therefore, every year as this day approaches, the movement to strive for excellence in teaching and learning, celebrating 'Vietnamese Teacher's Day,' is ignited in schools nationwide.
