If you want to safeguard the data on your USB from loss or theft, consider installing additional USB locking software with a password for increased security.
There are two methods to create a password for USB protection:
1. Use software to generate a password for USB
Step 1: Download USB Flash Security software from:
http://usb-flash-security.en.malavida.com/download
Step 2: Install and Use USB Flash Security

In the dialog box, select the Agree option -> Next.

Click Next to proceed.

Select the USB you want to set a password for and click Install.

A notification box will appear indicating that the data on the USB will be erased to set the password. Click OK.

Enter the password in the Please set the password to the disk of USB section. You can create a hint in case you forget the password in the Please set a hint for the password to remember you section. Then click OK to complete.

Check Begin the installation to start creating the password.
Note: After creating the password, your USB will be renamed.

Click Close to conclude the process.

After setting the password, your USB will be renamed:

Open USBENTER (G) where there are 3 files, then open the UsbEnter file.

Enter the created password and click OK.

In case you want to remove the password, follow these steps:
Step 1: Insert the USB into the computer.
Step 2: Open the USB Flash Security software.
Step 3: Go to the Operation tab -> Uninstall.

2. Utilize the built-in BitLocker encryption feature on Windows
This feature is only available for Windows 7 Enterprise, Ultimate, Win Server 2008, and Win 8 onwards.
Step 1: Right-click on the USB and choose Turn on BitLocker.

Step 2: A dialog box appears, check the Use a password to unlock the drive option -> enter the password in the Type your password field and re-enter the password in the Retype your password field -> click Next.

Step 3: A dialog box appears where you choose how to store the password, you can either save a file or print it. Here, I choose to create a separate password file -> click Save the recovery key to a file.

Step 4: Choose the location to save the password file and click Save.

Step 5: After saving the password file, click Next to proceed.

Step 6: Click Start Encrypting to begin the encryption process.

Step 7: The encryption process begins.

Step 8: A notification dialog confirms the successful password setup. Click Close to finish.

The USB icon now displays a lock symbol:

When you choose to open the USB, it requires a password. Click Unlock to open.

If you wish to remove the password, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to Start -> Control Panel.

Step 2: Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption.

Step 3: Disable BitLocker by clicking Turn off BitLocker.

Step 4: A notification dialog appears, choose Decrypt Drive.

After the process completes, click Close to finish.
