(National) - A rather humorous situation arises as Tower of Fantasy's developers call on their players to act as 'translators' for the game.
Hotta Studio's Tower of Fantasy, often labeled as a 'copy' of Genshin Impact, was touted as a strong competitor in 2022. Nevertheless, it has faced more backlash than acclaim from the gaming community since its release.
A major issue for Tower of Fantasy is its inadequate translation system. Targeting various markets, the developers sought to perfect their language offerings. However, to address translation inaccuracies, they've turned to the players instead of making corrections themselves.

Among the tasks for gamers, especially those with access to the limited beta version of Tower of Fantasy, is translating local language content into English for the developers. Remarkably, this translation task is unpaid, lacking any form of acknowledgment like a title or reward.
Gamers participating in game translation is not a new phenomenon. Typically, these versions are fan-made, driven by passion and a desire to contribute to the community, rather than unpaid work for developers.
Interestingly, despite Tower of Fantasy's substantial revenue, exceeding $34 million within just two weeks, the developers have yet to express gratitude to their translating players. Given its status as one of the biggest open-world games, there's no justification for not compensating translators for their contributions, at least not currently.
