The Moc Chau Plateau is currently amidst the late-harvest plum season. Hand-picking plump plums, almost the size of a child's fist, ripe, crimson, crisp, with a perfect blend of tartness and sweetness, will be a fruitful endeavor if you're willing to brave the remote roads to Moc Chau.
Seize the season, gather for a Moc Chau travel to pick late-harvest plums
Late May is when many provinces in the Northern mountainous regions enter the plum season – a fruit that entices, especially the ladies. Northern plums, when in season, have shiny skins, deep crimson color, and a crunchy texture, bursting with a tantalizing sweet and sour flavor in every bite, leaving a lasting impression on those who've tasted them.
During the ripe plum season, provinces like Son La, Lao Cai, or Lai Chau are hailed as major plum-growing areas, with Moc Chau late-harvest plum in Son La and triple-flowered plum in Bac Ha, Lao Cai, standing out. With the desire to hand-pick plums and relish the largest, most delicious fruits, many have planned to seize the weekend opportunity to travel to Moc Chau or Bac Ha. Among these destinations, the Moc Chau Plateau takes precedence not just for its plums but also for its renowned tourist attractions like the Bản Áng pine forest, the tea hills of love, and more.

The area with the highest concentration of plums in Moc Chau is the border area between Tan Lap commune and Moc Chau town center. For plum-picking enthusiasts, it's best to head to the Na Ka valley, boasting over 100 hectares of plum trees. Due to the extensive cultivation of plums here, many young people affectionately refer to this place as the late-harvest plum valley.
Plum trees are generally short, so you can usually just stand on the ground and freely pick the fruit. However, there are also large, ancient trees with many fruits at the top and end of branches, requiring climbing or improvised tools to pick the fruit.

Before the vast plum orchard, dense with fruits, sometimes you may feel like stepping into a fairy world. The crimson, massive plums that are usually only found in select stores in the city are abundant here. But of course, to enter the orchard to admire and pick plums, you must first ask for permission from the orchard owner.
Some orchard owners charge an entrance fee, around 20,000 VND per person, for you to freely explore the orchard and enjoy plucking plums from the trees. Others may waive the entrance fee and provide complimentary plums for consumption in the orchard, only charging for purchased plums to take home.

Entering the plum orchard, the most delightful sensation is when you handpick a plum, selecting a large, ripe, heavy one, then wiping off the dust with your shirttail, even shining it before taking a trendy check-in photo. Then, you bite into the plum, feeling the thickness of the flesh, the sweet and tangy taste blending together, tantalizing your taste buds.
For plums purchased by tourists or individual buyers, the average price is around 20,000 to 25,000 VND per kilogram for high-quality plums. Of course, you can pick them yourself, but usually it's just for the experience. If you buy in bulk, the orchard owner will often have someone pick them for you quickly.

The plum season isn't very long, so if you're a fan of this fruit, take advantage while the fruit is in season and plan a trip to Moc Chau travel this weekend. Because it's not just about picking plums, it's also a fun weekend getaway.
