Answer:
Question 3 (page 173 Vietnamese Language Grade 5 textbook): Among the two poems studied in the theme For Human Happiness, which line do you like the most? Present the merits of those lines for your classmates to understand and appreciate your choice.
Response:
- In the poem 'Our Village Rice Grain' by poet Tran Dang Khoa, I favor the following lines:
Our village rice grain
Sent to the frontline
Sent to distant lands
I'm happy, I sing
Our village rice grain...
The final lines of the poem have evoked thoughts of the farmers' contribution in producing rice grains to feed the army in defeating the invading Americans. And from the rice grains made by farmers, they have contributed to feeding everyone, creating a warm and happy society. That's why poet Tran Dang Khoa likened rice grains to: 'The golden grains of our village'. This comparison is very apt and accurate.
- In the poem 'About the House Under Construction' by poet Dong Xuan Lan, I admire the following lines:
The flock of birds returns from their meal
Pouring into the unsanded window a few musical notes
The sun stands, forgetting to sleep
On the walls
Which breeze brings fragrance
Filled with the grooves of unsurfaced walls
The author of the poem employed personification, creating vivid imagery, making the under-construction house lively, poetic, and unusually cozy:
The flock of birds returning from their meal
Pouring a few musical notes into the unsanded window.
This signifies: 'Good land attracts birds'. Before people even arrive to live, the birds have come chirping. Then: Which breeze brings fragrance. The wind rushes back with the scent of earth, sky, rivers, mountains, grass, and trees. The poetic idea evokes warmth, richness of human life increasingly elevated.
