Tech startup Sensy has unveiled an electronic musical instrument resembling a guitar, featuring a fretboard with LED lights that follow along, facilitating quick learning for beginners. Additionally, it can be used by professional players as a MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface).Learning to play a musical instrument is not easy for many, especially dealing with finger pain when playing the guitar or the complexity of music theory. While efforts are always rewarded, we also see various handy tools to help people learn to play musical instruments more easily, such as illuminated indicators on the guitar body or keyboard.Inspired by the world of photography, Sensy's founder envisioned a musical instrument that mirrors the evolution of high-quality imagery. In the not-so-distant past, capturing stunning photos required both skill and an expensive camera. Now, achieving that can be as simple as using a smartphone. This musical instrument, much like its visual counterpart, is not only sleek but also empowers players to effortlessly embrace any musical genre. With Sensy's instrument, players can pluck or strum the six accelerative sensors that simulate the instrument's 'strings' and press down on the vibrant LED buttons along the fretboard. The lights guide players, whether left or right-handed, to precisely place their fingers on the frets and when to do so.
Featuring a 5,000mAh battery for up to 12 hours of musical enjoyment, users can explore over 70 instrument sounds through headphones or portable speakers using the integrated synthesizer. The device seamlessly connects to laptops or smartphones via Bluetooth LE (with a latency of approximately 8-10 ms) or through a USB cable. Additionally, players can utilize the Sensy app to activate various play modes, automatically record their sessions, and adjust device parameters such as string sensitivity, pitch, or LED behavior.
This instrument easily fits into a backpack for on-the-go musicians.
When not played in the traditional manner, the guitar can rest elegantly on a table, doubling as a MIDI instrument by connecting to a laptop via USB.
