The first devices to receive Android 5.0, notably the Nexus devices, are encountering these issues. Previous reported issues include data encryption performance problems, silent mode glitches, flash issues, and now, another problem: messages not reaching recipients despite no error reported upon sending.
Devices affected by this issue include Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop. However, not all networks are affected. Specifically, Vodafone and Mobistar users are experiencing this issue. Some Moto X users also report messages not reaching recipients. There's no specific statistical data on this peculiar messaging issue yet. Users experiencing this issue can temporarily fix it by changing the international dialing code, such as replacing +84 with 0.
On Google's support page, a user stated, 'I encountered this error. Messages sent do not reach recipients. According to Vodafone's investigation, messages are sent to international numbers with the area code 111 (incurring charges outside the contract).' Another user noted that reverting to Android Kitkat resolves this issue entirely. The issues Google announced on November 16 didn't include this particular one. Nexus 6 has also been affected in the Netherlands. Google recently addressed this issue, announcing a temporary halt to Android 5.0 updates on devices to await forthcoming bug fixes.
