Many users often choose to read PDF files on Adobe Reader due to its convenience and user-friendly interface. Nowadays, there are several other software options with similar and equally professional features. However, reading PDFs with Adobe Reader is primarily reserved for experienced users with a long history of finding, editing, and reading PDF files. For new users, especially those unfamiliar with setting Adobe Reader as the default PDF opener, this task can be challenging.
Setting Adobe Reader as the Default PDF Opener
Step 1: Open the Adobe Reader software.
Step 2: From the Adobe Reader home page, select Edit. In the opened submenu, proceed to choose Preferences or press the Ctrl + K shortcut.
Step 3: Click on the General Tab.
Step 4: In the General tab, continue scrolling down and select the Application Startup item.
Here, simply click the Select As Default PDF Handler option to set Adobe Reader as the default PDF tool.
Step 5: Your computer will prompt you to confirm whether you want to choose Adobe Reader as the default PDF handler. Press Yes>OK to complete.
After selecting Adobe Reader as the default PDF reader, you'll notice the software's icon at the bottom right corner of your documents.
Upon confirmation, whenever you open any PDF file, the computer will automatically switch to Adobe Reader, eliminating the need for users to spend time searching for their preferred PDF reader. Similar to setting Foxit Reader as the default PDF opener, configuring Adobe Reader as the default PDF handler enables the computer to automatically open all PDF files.
Alongside Adobe Reader, there are several excellent PDF readers such as Foxit Reader, SlimPDF, and Sumatra PDF. Foxit Reader, known for its free and lightweight nature, is suitable for computers with modest configurations. Sumatra PDF, besides its PDF reading capabilities, efficiently supports effective PDF editing.
. However, when comparing Foxit Reader and Adobe Reader, many users tend to choose Adobe Reader due to its renowned brand and long-standing popularity. Depending on your purpose, preferences, and work requirements, you can choose the PDF reader and editor that best suits your needs.
Wishing you all success!
