While browsing Mytourfact, I noticed many people using Ambilight LED screen lights. Today, I'm writing a guide to help you set up the lights after purchase, so you don't have to ask the seller for Teamviewer help.Assemble onto the screen
I bought this Ambilight LED set on Shopee, which offers many options for different screen sizes. I chose the one for a 27-inch screen with 3 sides, priced at 368k VND. If you have a larger screen and choose 4 sides, the price will be higher.
The seller included a roll of 3M tape, and after using it for 2 months, I haven't had any issues with the adhesive. The LED strip's corner is made of wire, so it doesn't fold at the corners.
I attached the controller to the screen using 3M tape to keep it tidy
Power from the USB-A port of my LG monitorSoftware setup
Download the software from this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iHHHyE2vOD8OTRUBt9r-Bf5fs4vSHaR5/view?usp=sharing There are versions for both macOS and Windows. I will guide you on macOS, and you can follow similar steps on Windows.
After installation, click on Device → Run configuration wizard
Select Adalight
To find the serial port, enter the following command:ls /dev/tty.*After entering the terminal, you will see a table like this:
So, my serial will be: /dev/tty.usbserial-130Paste it into the Serial port field and click Continue
If you have a 3-sided LED setup, enter the settings as shown above:-Total LED count = 70-Top edge = 34-Both sides (SIDES) = 18-Bottom edge (BOTTOM) = 0LED number 1 will light up when you plug it into the screen. If you connect from right to left, you don't need to select invert order, otherwise, click on invert order.
It should look like this, which is okay
After completion, the LEDs will light up. If they don't, go back to the beginning and check if any steps were done incorrectly
There are 3 basic settings:Screen grabbing (color follows screen)Mood lamp (fixed color)Sound visualization (lights follow music played through speakers) - this part requires additional driver configuration, which is quite complex. I tried it once, but the app froze, so I stopped. If anyone has experience, please share in the comments section.
I chose Screen grabbing and adjusted Over-brightening to the highest level to maximize LED brightnessAchievement
I tested the Ambilight with a YouTube video, and in this picture, I turned on the lights for filming
LED smoothly changes colors according to the colors on the screen
In this image, I turned off all the lights in the room, showing a scene of Doctor Strange casting spells in No Way Home.
Advantages:- Affordable, easy to use, can synchronize colors with on-screen content smoothly,
- Enhances the monitor usage experience, elevates movie-watching experience.
- Setup is messy, involves many steps
- The app performance is not great, if you unplug and plug the screen back in, you have to close the app and reopen it for the LEDs to work again
