Typically, if Windows is already installed, the boot process will go straight to the OS. So, if you want to boot from USB or CD/DVD, you need to time it right as the computer starts and press F9/F10/F12 to edit the boot order, which can be quite time-consuming.
How to Set CD/DVD USB as the Primary Boot for Installing Windows 7, 8, XP on Your Laptop or PC
Step 1: The first thing to do is identify the shortcut key to access the BIOS on each type of computer. Typically, on a PC, the setup key is F2 or Delete, while on a laptop, you can refer to the information below.
Dell/ Fujitsu/ Sony/ASUS: F2
HP: F2/F9/F10
Toshiba: ESC + F1
Step 2: After accessing the BIOS Settings, you need to switch to the Boot tab.
Step 3: Now, you'll see the boot options and sequence. Move Removable Devices to the top using the +/- keys or the up/down button, depending on your device.
Alternatively, prioritize booting from CD/DVD by moving CD-ROM Drive to the top.
Step 4: Finally, press F10 and choose Yes to save your changes.
After restarting, you can now successfully boot from CD/DVD or USB.
