On that morning, the family members rose early to pack their belongings into the car. The journey commenced at 4 in the morning, reaching Hue at 6. Setting foot on the Ancient Capital's land in the early morning was truly splendid. The sky in Hue was higher and bluer, and the white clouds seemed to float more gracefully. The family checked into a hotel and began exploring the Ancient Capital. Mentioning Hue brings to mind the famous Bun Bo Hue, and not to miss the opportunity, the family indulged in this dish at a small roadside eatery. Bun Bo Hue truly lived up to expectations with its soft, elastic noodles, rich broth, and the harmonious blend of spices making the dish irresistibly delicious.
That morning, the family visited the Imperial City, also known as the Hue Citadel. The entire area of the Imperial City is vast, including palaces and places where the king and queen conducted their activities, such as Thai Hoa Palace, Dien Tho Palace, Truong Sanh Palace, and the Forbidden Purple City. It's easy to spot young women wearing traditional Ao Dai here, gracefully donning the traditional attire of the nation, captivating foreign tourists. In the afternoon, the family visited the tombs of the Nguyen dynasty kings. Each tomb was built with a unique and distinctive architecture, reflecting the grandeur of the kings.
A day in Hue passed by quickly, and that evening, the family strolled around the pedestrian street to watch various music performances. Surrounding the pedestrian street were upscale restaurants catering to the needs of tourists. Later, the family took a cyclo ride across Trang Tien Bridge, listening to the cyclo driver narrate the history of the Hue Citadel. Not only that, but the family also visited the night market, listened to Hue songs on the Perfume River, and released lanterns, making wishes. In that moment, Hue felt both lively and poetic, romantic.
As night fell, the family returned to the hotel to rest for the visit to Thien Mu Pagoda the next morning. This sacred temple is situated by the Perfume River. During that noon and evening, the family had the opportunity to savor the local cuisine, including famous dishes such as clam rice, Hue sweet soup, grilled nem, banh beo, banh bot loc, and more. By 6 PM, the family boarded the car to return home. Mom bought a Hue conical hat and a bamboo dragonfly as gifts for relatives, while I purchased a small potted cactus. I placed it on my study desk, using it as motivation to strive for excellent academic performance.
Last summer's journey to Huế has enriched my knowledge and left me with a myriad of emotions. The enchanting historical beauty of Huế captivated me, not only for its ancient charm but also for the melodious voices of its people. Their gentle tone and warm demeanor made a lasting impression. Given the chance, I would eagerly return to Huế once more to fully immerse myself in the allure of the Ancient Capital.
