The distance from Vung Tau to Ho Chi Minh City is 125km, however, there are 2 routes for travelers to choose from.
Typically, if traveling by motorbike, taking National Highway 1A is the most convenient route. You'll head towards Vung Tau intersection, then turn right onto National Highway 51, continue for about 100km more until reaching Vung Tau.
However, that's not the fastest route to Vung Tau. For a quicker option, travelers can take the Cat Lai ferry to Nhon Trach, saving over 20km. However, note that this road is a bit rough, so drive carefully.
Details of the fastest motorbike route to Vung Tau are as follows:
You pass through the Thu Thiem Tunnel, head onto Mai Chi Tho Street. When you reach the intersection, turn right onto Dong Van Cong Street, continue straight to Truong Thi Dinh Street to reach the Cat Lai ferry. The ferry ticket price is 5k VND/ trip.

After crossing the ferry, continue straight, about 5km to Ly Thai To Street, then turn onto Tran Van Tra Street (this stretch often encounters police checks and there are many trucks, so drive carefully). Next, at the intersection, turn right onto Quach Thi Trang Street, then drive about 4km more, and turn right onto Ton Duc Thang Street.
Continue for about 14km, then turn onto National Highway 51. From here, travelers only need to drive straight for about 60km more to reach Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
