These figures demonstrate Tencent's continued effectiveness with its 'pet project' game.
Tencent's decision to globalize 'King of Glory' isn't arbitrary. According to Sensor Tower data, in June 2023, Tencent's 'King of Glory' claimed the top spot in the global mobile gaming bestseller list. This data may include revenue from 'Arena of Valor' in three markets: Vietnam, Thailand, and Taipei.
MiHoYo's 'Honkai: Star Rail' ranks second on the list. The other three games in the top 5 are Tencent's 'PUBG Mobile' (combined revenue with 'Peace Elite'), King's 'Candy Crush Saga,' and 'Roblox.' Sensor Tower reports that Tencent's 'King of Glory' has attracted $213 million globally on the App Store and Google Play, topping the list of highest-grossing mobile games.

MiHoYo's 'Honkai: Star Rail' ranks second on the list. Of this, 39.7% of revenue comes from the Chinese iOS market, 27.7% from Japan, and 11.4% from the US. Tencent's 'PUBG Mobile' (combined with revenue from 'Peace Elite') ranks third on the list with $122 million in revenue. During this period, 54.2% of revenue comes from the Chinese iOS market, 9% from the US, and 7.5% from India.
With almost consecutive top rankings in the global highest-grossing games list, Tencent's ambition to make 'King of Glory' the most successful mobile MOBA is well-founded. With the international release of this game, combined with tournaments like KIC and the upcoming participation in ASIAD, it's no wonder 'King of Glory' will increasingly expand its influence.
The question now is whether Tencent aims to maintain both versions of 'King of Glory' and Arena of Valor (AoV) simultaneously. It's worth noting that AoV's annual AWC tournament has 'disappeared.' Will there be a merger in the future? This question will sooner or later find an answer in due course.
