With simple ingredients, you can quickly thaw fish while still maintaining its freshness.
Nutritional value of fish
Fish is highly rich in protein and serves as an excellent protein source for low-carb diets. It contains certain amounts of vitamins A, D, E, various minerals, and iodine. We should consume 40-75 grams of fish per day.
In general, fish is better for health than red meat and poultry.
Many people have the habit of storing fish in the refrigerator for gradual use. However, improper thawing of fish can cause the fish meat to become mushy and affect the flavor of the dish after cooking.
Tricks for thawing fish using salt and white vinegar
Today, I'm introducing you to a simple trick to quickly thaw fish that takes only about 5 - 10 minutes while still maintaining the freshness like newly purchased fish.
Firstly, take the frozen fish out of the refrigerator. Prepare a bowl, add a tablespoon of salt (if the fish weighs more than 1 or 2 kg, add two tablespoons of salt), add about 15 ml of white vinegar, then pour in warm water (about 30°C). Stir until the salt is completely dissolved.
Next, pour each spoonful of the mixture onto the fish, the layer of ice on the surface of the fish will quickly melt. Let it sit for another 5 minutes, at this point the fish will be completely thawed.
In this method of thawing fish, salt can dissolve the ice layer quickly, while also acting as a disinfectant. White vinegar not only softens but also can eliminate fishy odors; together with warm water, it will accelerate the thawing process.
