Since the release of the MacBook Pro from 2016 onwards, Apple has equipped its MacBook with a small screen below the keyboard called the Touch Bar. However, it hasn't provided much efficiency and convenience. Therefore, through this article, I will guide you on how to customize the Touch Bar on MacBook using MTMR software.
How to Customize MacBook's Touch Bar
MTMR is a powerful open-source application for customizing your Touch Bar. Being open-source, it's completely free. We can customize the display icons on the Dock, adjust music playback, volume, screen brightness, keyboard, put the machine to sleep, monitor CPU and RAM task manager, and much more. However, this application does not use a graphical user interface (GUI), instead, it uses a command-line interface configured through a 'json' file (JavaScript Object Notation), so it requires some computer knowledge and coding to use it as desired.
Step 1: Download MTMR software at the link below, completely free.

Step 2: Install MTMR
Open the file named MTMR 0.21.1.dmg > drag the MTMR.app > Applications and install it.
Step 3: Grant accessibility permissions to MTMR so it can access your computer to adjust brightness and volume settings.
System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Accessibility > lock icon (to unlock) > and locate MTMR.app and check the box.
Step 4: After installing MTMR, the MTMR icon will appear on the Menu Bar, we click on it > select Preferences.

If you have some knowledge about computers and coding, you can unleash your creativity. Otherwise, you can refer to and use the available presets shared by the user community here. Simply copy the code from the .json file shared by users and click on the MTMR icon on the Menu Bar > select Preferences and highlight all the existing code and paste the new code.
