With the surge of the COVID-19 pandemic forcing people to work from home, teleconferencing platforms have become popular due to the increased demand for remote collaboration. While Microsoft's other service, Teams, allows up to 300 participants in a call, Skype calls have been limited to 50 participants until now. Of course, Teams targets business users and offers more features for remote collaboration.
100 participants in a video call simultaneously on Skype
Currently, any small businesses, educators, and even regular users who frequently use Skype for video calls can now add up to 100 participants on the Skype version for desktop, web, and mobile platforms.

Additionally, Skype 8.66 update also comes with bug fixes alongside new features:
- New messages fail to appear at the top of Recent Messages.
- Automatic language setting changes to English.
- Logging out freezes the app on Android.
- Issues with file upload or download.
- Problems with favorite items disappearing from the Windows address book.
Minor adjustments like fixing the issue of new messages not displaying will significantly enhance the app's usability. Microsoft stated that the rollout of the new update will occur gradually, so it may take a few days for the update to reach all users.
Social media platform Facebook has introduced a new disappearing message mode called Vanish Mode, which will help users secure the information they exchange.
